Run Straight to 3rd Base - Aug 17th

Not much new to report today. Beth was awake for most of the day but still struggled to breath and was very weak.  Beth has been very hot and sweaty, even with the AC set at a balmy 67 degrees. Other than that, just another day.

We will keep this short tonight as we have another early morning tomorrow - we are still getting back into the school routine.

We’ll end with one of my favorite Beth stories. When she was little, maybe 5 or 6 she was playing t-ball and she was standing on first base. Her coach put her arm around her and said, “Okay, Beth when the ball is hit I want you to run straight to 3rd base.  Don’t stop running until you get to 3rd base”.  Confused Beth tried to get some clarification, “But coach! Don’t I…”  The coach cut her off and said, “Straight to 3rd Beth, no matter what”.  Reluctantly, Beth turned and watch the batter and as soon as the ball was hit Beth ran directly across the field, over the pitcher’s mound and “straight to 3rd base” from first base. The umpire called her out and she was sent back to the dugout.  She was devastated and embarrassed as her coach and some of the parents were chuckling because how literal Beth followed the coach's directions. Beth cried and said, “You said to run STRAIGHT to 3rd”.  The coach apologized.  Shortly after that game marked the end 0f Beth’s baseball career.

This picture I found tonight reminded me of this story and I wanted to share it.

That picture is adorable. And that story is even cuter. How funny!!!
I hope she starts to feel better. I hate that she has to choose between being comfortable and having quality time with her family. Maybe hospice can offer another solution. I pray that she can soak up all the time she has creating memories.
I hope you had a Happy Birthday!! Love you guys!! πŸ’—πŸ’—
