“Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant" - Aug 30th

Beth is very close to the end. She has slept all day, has not eaten anything and has only had about 3 oz of water as we had to crush up her pain meds, mix it with water and give it to her through a syringe.  Our prayers have changed from praying for time to praying that Heavenly Father calls her home soon.  Her work is done here. I was laying in bed last night watching Beth sleep and envisioned that moment when she is reunited with her Father in Heaven and He embraces her saying, Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” I then imagined Him saying, “Now let’s get to work.”

As I alluded to, Beth is still taking oral pain meds. As long as she can still swallow liquids she will not need to be on morphine.  I expect Beth to pass before she ever needs morphine.  What a fitting way  for Beth to go out  - tough till the very end.

About a week ago Beth was telling me about a dream she had. Beth has told me before that she so much wishes she could talk to me as she passes.  She wishes she could describe what she sees, who is there, what it feels like. In her dream she had passed away and was told that she could describe to me only ONE thing in detail about what she sees.  Beth promptly started to describe a striped dog bowl sitting in the middle of the room. She described it to me in full detail including exactly how much water was in the bowl.  After realizing what she wasted her ONE and only chance to describe something she was so mad at herself.  “Of all of the beautiful things there is why in the world would I describe a dog bowl of all things?”

Sunday was the last day that we were able to have any type of real conversation with Beth. Each of our children were able to spend about 15 -20 minutes with her. I am so thankful for that time they got to spend.

I'm so sorry!! I remember saying good bye to my mom and then waiting for her body to let go. It took a few days and I never prayed harder for Him to take her home. I realized then that I am not in charge.
I'm glad your kiddos got their own special moments with Beth. It will be something they will cherish and hold on to.
I pray for you, I pray for your kids, and I pray for sweet Beth to peacefully go home to the God who gave her life.
I'm so so sorry Alan!! There are no words to describe the heart ache I feel for you and your family. Cherish the moments, the tender mercies, and the beautiful spirit that fills your home.
We love you!!๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

This scripture always brought me comfort.
(Alma 40:11 Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection--Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life.)

I echo the words of Kellie. Beth has been an angel here on earth. Beth has been such a blessing in my life. #thebetheffect. I want to be better because of Beth. I can't think of anyone else who would offer to babysit my kids in the afternoon after having chemo in the morning. ALWAYS willing and wanting to help. My heart breaks for your family. I pray for comfort for your family. ๐Ÿ’—

We will adjust our prayers according to your desires. We are praying for an abundance of additional tender mercies as all of you transition to this next phase of life. Beth has blessed so many. We are all honored to know her and learn from her. Thanks, Alan, for sharing these beautiful and difficult experiences with us. I hope you continue to blog so we all know specific things we can pray for as we continue to battle together. Sending love from the Tenneys. Praying for all of you to sense the angels surrounding you at this sacred time.

Alan, thank you so much for taking the time to write these beautiful posts. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to update us each day. But I want you to know how very inspiring your thoughts and testimony are. We love you and your family. We're praying daily for peace for all of you. Thank you for these touching pictures. (I've never even met you! Beth and I grew up together in the Manhattan Beach Ward - I'm a few years older than her, and I'm sad that we lost touch after I moved away from CA. But I'm so grateful that we reconnected the last few years, even if it was just on Facebook.) You and Beth have created a beautiful eternal family! Thank you again for doing the "hard right" and letting us all share this heartbreaking time.

Through these posts I have felt an abundant outpouring of the spirit. Thank you Alan for helping to share Beth's (and your) blessed experience of the "unexpected gift." In French when someone is close to dying, we say "adieu" which literally means "to God" so sweet Beth, to you I say "adieu." --Misty Johnson

A dog bowl!!! It's perfect!!! What represents family, love, and responsibility more than a dog bowl! How comforting Beth gets to walk into Beckie's family and be home. There's no place like home when you are comforted by man's best friend!!! My prayers are with you Alan and Children as you say goodbye to your beautiful Beth! Thank you for this incredible journey that has touched so many hearts for good! I love you Campbell-Mowrey family. Heavenly Father is with you every step of the way.

Tears of love roll down my face as I hold you all so tightly in my heart. What grace and beauty you have all shown as you have shared the art of dying with our western culture, an art not often shared or embraced. I am praying so hard for everyone. What a bright light Beth is...a light that has lit up this earthly world and now will do so eternally.

All our love,

Dogs are loyal and family oriented. Bowls remind one of nourishing. Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives. She just dreampt of little reminders of what is true. Your family's story a great role model. I am so sorry beautiful Beth had to have this trial.
