After Beth’s visit earlier this week her doctor prescribed her anti-anxiety medication as well as round the clock pain meds. The last few days Beth has been very sluggish. She has been sleeping more than normal but even when she is awake she has had a hard time focusing and is always on the verge of falling back asleep. Holding a conversation has been difficult. Tonight Beth was awake staring at the TV and Ben walked by and said “Good night Mom”. It took Beth about 10 seconds before she realized that Ben was talking to her.
My mom and I are trying determine if this is because of the increase dosage of pain meds or if it is the new anti anxiety pills. From reading online, some of Beth’s behaviors are reactions and side effects of the anti anxiety medication. We are going to skip her anti anxiety pills tomorrow and see how she responds. The anti-anxiety meds were a proactive approach by her doctor to get ahead of any possible anxiety or worry that might come in the next few weeks.
One other thing to note is that she has had increased difficulty breathing. I was watching her sleep this afternoon and noticed that she was using all of her accessory muscles to breath. With each breath she used her entire upper chest and diaphragm. I was exhausted just watching her breathe.
My brother Chad and his family drove up from Florida and arrived today. It is so good to have them here and able to spend time with Beth.
Lastly, it was another amazing day of love and support from our friends. I could dedicate pages and pages of this blog to all of the thoughtful, inspired, loving, uplifting things people have done for us. Just know that we are absolutely overwhelmed with all of the good that is out there. We are surrounded by so many selfless and loving people. Each of you are the reason the title of this Blog exists. Thank You!
